GT LL THT U DSRV

I feel quite full of energy after the break so this time it looks like two improvisations are being published on the same day! This one is loosely based on Steven Wilson's "Get All That You Deserve" from his latest solo album “Insurgentes”. On the just released mini-album “NSRGNTS RMXS” you can find two great remixes of this track as well. Each of them exposes a different feature of this magnificent composition. Highly recommended.

Key Signature Tackled, Pt. 3

OK, probably some explanation is due. The lack of new improvisations for the past days was mostly because of my absence: I was visiting Birmingham. Still, I’m back and ready to rock! :)

Today’s improvisation is the third movement in the KST series. This piece explores some of the oldest jazz progressions, trying to find something elusive and unknown in them, trying to tell a story. In the series, four parts are planned, the last one being a finale that merges all themes. This will be quite a challenge, stay tuned.

Note: You might want to look at the archive of older entries where all improvisations for June are still being kept.

Electric Fridays #13: Four Faces

A suitcase drowned in spacial reverb. The tones like drops of water, the ones that hollow out the stone.

Electric Fridays #12: Of a Long Day

It seems consecutive episodes of Electric Fridays got closer to each other than they were before. We’ll work it out. Nevertheless, this time a very quiet and slow piece, very mellow and peaceful.

Electric Fridays #11: Babylon

Already the 11th edition of Electric Fridays, weekly e-piano improvisations. This time a subtle song, a variation on the „Babylon” theme by Clandestine. The original itself is a very pleasing and surprisingly deep collage of nursery rhymes and traditional themes. Recommended.

By the way, I mentioned some great stuff coming up. And indeed, I’ve got three things to mention.

Planning

Eerie ringing in my ears. And the thoughts, too loud. Need the silence.

Antoine, You're a Genius (Lullaby, Phase 3)

Another approach to the lullaby subject, somewhat different than the first two.

Something in the Pocket

The first three days of May were public holidays in Poland. Hence, no improvisations were published. This piece introduces the third month of the DailyImprov.net project.

I was looking for some unwanted files on my hard drive to make room for other stuff and, while at it, I found some very old music I did on tracker software many years ago. This improvisation is based on one of the tunes I composed back then.

Emotional Blackmail Wizards

These people, seemingly so pure in their intentions and so naive in their actions... They know exactly what they’re doing. Emotional blackmail wizards.

Desire as a Manifestation of Power

As means of contrast to the more technical or bizarre tunes of the last few days, this time a simple mellow theme composed and recorded in one take.

Key Signature Tackled, Pt. 1

I planned for some time to prepare a more structured series of improvisations. KST, Pt. 1 starts a particularly mellow one. Three more parts are planned. You can also be interested in KST, Pt. 2.

Ana Marie Anomaly (Conservatory)

This is originally the first of Anomalies ever created, but this recording is done much later. It appeared as the second track on the album. It is the most peaceful of them all, with many conscious musical references. How many can you spot?

End Titles

Fourth of Anomalies, another longer piece from 2007. This is how I imagine a soundtrack for the finale and end titles of an unspecified movie. If you have an idea for a screenplay, drop me a line.

Comptine de la Fille Trahi

This improvisation, originally performed in 2007, is a collage of Yann Tiersen's Comptine D'un Autre Été: L'apres Midi, La Valse D'Amélie and some original ideas.
