All I Do, I Can Still Feel You

Tomorrow I’m going to see Trent Reznor. I simply can’t wait. And it shows in today’s improvisation, based heavily on his “Underneath It All”. Sorry it’s so imprecise, it’s the excitement.

Electric Fridays #13: Four Faces

A suitcase drowned in spacial reverb. The tones like drops of water, the ones that hollow out the stone.

Vicinity

One of the shortest improvisations but it's got a distinctive mood.

Scene 34

Inspired by the movie “33 Scenes From Life”. The film was so packed with negative events I just had to add a more positive continuation.

Backdated: recorded yesterday.

PS: Abraham’s Bells theme quote unintentional. It unveiled for me when listening to the final mix.

Planning

Eerie ringing in my ears. And the thoughts, too loud. Need the silence.

Lantern on the Hill

Backdated because it was recorded yesterday. I just ran out of energy to do the master and publish it. Theme and title inspired by a German movie I saw that day: „Gegen die Wand”.

Electric Fridays #10: Sine Qua Non

Somewhat moody and relaxed, the certainty that it will all eventually make sense one day.

Just Ember (Poison for a Fairy)

Today’s improvisation is based on Steven Wilson's "Veneno Para Las Hadas" from his latest solo album “Insurgentes”. I participate in a remix competition for the track “Abandoner”. You can vote for my entry.

Electric Fridays #9: Can't Make Everyone Happy, Now Can I?

Today, another installment of Electric Fridays brings in some more negative energy. Some slight distortion came in unintentionally. I guess it’s the ultimate distortion week...

Listen to Can’t Make Everyone Happy, Now Can I? 2:13

Yesterday I decided to switch jobs, hence the omission.

In Your Room

A clumsy attempt at fast, rhythmic performance. When you’re playing in a tempo that technically makes you a big metronome, there’s hardly space (and time) for invention.

Meeting the Orthogonal

As one of my professors used to say: „Great things happen by conjunction”.

Technically inspired by PNODUO’s approach to improvisation that rejects planning ahead. So this piece is as pure as it gets: created while performed, no editing whatsoever.

Electric Fridays #7: On The Brink of a Breakdown

Today’s episode of Electric Fridays focuses on a couple of very sad stories that happen to my friends right now. Financial problems, severe health issues, relationship dramas... Strange coincidence, especially at this seemingly happy time of the year.

Improvisation recorded at 288 BPM, in 5/4.

Key Signature Tackled, Pt. 2

That’s right. There was no improvisation for the weekend. Sorry for the ommision. This track is longer than usual, to somewhat cover the gap.

A continuation of the more structured series of improvisations. This part is far less peaceful than the initial one. There are some theme overlappings to maintain focus on the subject, but overally this is a very different animal. You can also be interested in KST, Pt. 1. Two more parts are planned.

The Way To Paradise (is a part of it)

In fact, the way may be the paradise.

By the way, Eric Barnhill posted another link in our chain of mutual improvisations, a response to Bodytrapped II. Well played, let’s see where I can go from here...

The Empty Tomb

A calm theme, very technical in nature, though I’m not happy with the accuracy. Consider this just a sketch or a scrap, so to speak.

No Rest Until The Search Ends

Eh. I tried to speed up the process by recording straight to Logic Pro and then - as it crashed without me saving the work - I’ve got one more reason to use the on-board sequencer of the piano: it does not crash, ever.

Tried to recover the theme by doing endless takes since then. Somewhat succeeded but you’ll have to believe me if I say - the original was somewhat better.

Wireless Everything

An etude for practising counting in 5/4. Not a particularly strong piece but still, it was quite a challenge to get it right without falling for 4/4 anywhere...
Listen to Wireless Everything 5:08

It seems the recording is a little distorted. Sorry for that, will tweak the settings for consecutive improvisations.
