Bodytrapped II

This piece is the continuation of the improvisation challenge for Eric Barnhill in a series of versuses, mutual improvisations on a given theme. The game turns out to be very interesting and it was tough to prepare a worthy improvisation as a response for his piece. I hope the result is okay.

Contrast Means More Than Absolute Brightness (Phase 2)

That’s right: no tune was published for Friday. This was the deadline for Steven Wilson’s Abandoner remix contest and I participated. The commitment really knocked me up and despite spending a couple of hours finding anything interesting, nothing came up. So, this marks the first hole in the DailyImprov.net calendar. Oh well...

Today’s piece is one of the more experimental and heavy Anomalies, recorded in 2007 as one behemoth 30 minute piece. It was later recut and divided in two parts. This is the second part, but it is presented here first, just as it appeared chronologically on the album.

Wireless Everything

An etude for practising counting in 5/4. Not a particularly strong piece but still, it was quite a challenge to get it right without falling for 4/4 anywhere...

It seems the recording is a little distorted. Sorry for that, will tweak the settings for consecutive improvisations.

Homeless

A bitter-sweet tune with some metal spice. Let’s just hope this week will be more sweet than bitter, nonetheless. Recorded at 144 BPM.

Trust Like Empathy

For weekends a single longer piece will be published. This one is particularly heavy but turned out to be pretty successful when it came out. It is the very first of Anomalies, a series of improvisations I’ve done in 2007. Unfortunately the unedited Logic files are gone, so only the processed ones will be published along with the MP3s.
